October 30, 2020

GRAND SALINE--On October 16, David “Rudy” Kirby celebrated his 90th birthday at Country Place Senior Living where he is currently a resident. Kirby was able to enjoy his birthday celebration with family and friends, following the COVID guidelines of social distancing at his assisted living home. Local students David Wilson and Bryce Holland, two current GSHS players, were able to visit and help him celebrate his special day.
Kirby was a big football for Grand Saline many years ago and was a graduate of Grand Saline in 1949. Mr. Kirby attended the Grand Saline High School football games for many years after retirement.
Kirby was born in Van Zandt County just outside of Grand Saline. Before retirement, he owned his own heating and air conditioning company for 25 years – Tem-Trol Heating and Air in Dallas. Kirby enjoys fishing, hunting, traveling in the RV, and his trips to Alaska.
The assisted living facility and family were appreciative of all who shared in Kirby's birthday.
