GRAND SALINE--With an unexpected turn out to the year, a pandemic is the last thing that anyone would imagine would hit our country. So many sacrifices have been made and rules put in place to prevent the spread of this aggressive virus. Workers all over that are able to continue working have been stretched thin at times to meet the needs of the business. Before the pandemic employees came to work, did their job and clocked out. Nothing out of the ordinary about it. As of today, we are wearing masks, being tested, social distancing, doing everything we need to do to make sure we do not put another life or our own at risk.
At Azalea Trail the staff works endlessly putting these new temporary practices in place. In a nursing home there is no room for error due to the majority of the residents being elderly and at a higher risk of contracting the virus. Extreme measures are taken every day and the staff are working extra diligently to get things done the safest way possible. Like other nursing homes the work day is done with all these added steps, which can be physically and emotionally exhausting at the end of the day. Recently, the owners and operators handed out bonus checks to staff of Azalea Trail Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The bonus checks were for their commitment to caring for the most vulnerable population during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The staff were extremely grateful and surprised. A team member of the Azalea Trail Facebook posted on the page, “Wow!!! We received an unexpected blessing from our great leaders Mr. & Mrs. Ward!! Thank you both so much for the bonus check!!”.
Whether bonuses, an appreciation lunch or a sweet thank you note, all workers in every profession putting their lives at risk every day should be acknowledged for their commitment to their jobs and to their customers.
