Valene Jordan Throws Hat in Ring for Van Zandt TAC in 2020 Election

February 07, 2020

VAN ZANDT-Last week we heard from Misty Stanberry who is running for Van Zandt TAC. This week, we get to hear from Valene Jordan as she announces her running for VZ TAC, as well.
Valene Jordan worked in the food service Industry for many years. She said while working in this industry, she worked positions that required her to manage other employees, and end of day cash outs. She learned the importance of customer service. Later, after her first child, Valene assisted her husband with the day to day book-keeping, and accounting in his businesses.
Valene says once she takes office one of her goals will be the implementation of SCOFFLAW. The participation in the SCOFFLAW system would allow Van Zandt County, and the cities within, to collect on hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid citations and fees.
Valene Jordan also says she intends to maintain a conservative budget while finding ways to better serve the people of Van Zandt County, and she will always be open to ideas and concerns from the citizens she serves.
Jordan’s full address to the voters is below:

Announcement
Hi everyone, my name is Valene Jordan and I’m running for your Van Zandt County Tax Assessor/ Collector.
I am running for this office because I wish to continue the exceptional customer service and professionalism the outgoing tax assessor has provided.
I worked for many years in the food service industry as shift leader which required me to manage other employees and end of day cash outs. After my husband and I had our first child I took an active role in assisting him with the day to day book-keeping and accounting in his businesses. While serving in the food service industry, I learned the importance of customer service and as your tax assessor/ collector my core focus is serving you in all of the operations within my office. I will always be looking for ways to increase the level of convenience to the citizens of this county.
As most of you know the tax assessor/ collector in our county does not deal with taxes, they handle the vehicle titles and registrations for the state of Texas. There are other services this office has provided previously and when I take office I intend to research the viability of returning those services to Van Zandt County. I intend to maintain a conservative budget while finding ways to better serve the people of Van Zandt County, and I will always be open to ideas and concerns from the citizens I serve.
Once I take office one of my goals will be the implementation of SCOFFLAW. The participation in the SCOFFLAW system would allow Van Zandt County, and the cities within, to collect on hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid citations and fees. We already do this for other counties, we should be doing it for Van Zandt County.
Furthermore, I would implement an official TAC Facebook page to keep the citizens informed of any changes or news in the TAC office but also of any changes to state laws or procedures.
I will keep in place the policies that have improved the tax assessors office such as: keeping the main office open through lunch and making daily deposits. I believe these policies, along with many others, have made the tax assessors office more effective and convenient for the citizens of Van Zandt County.
I will diligently follow the laws and regulations of the State of Texas and will always do the right thing, even if no one is watching.
I would very much appreciate your support in the March 3rd Republican primary. Thank you all and I hope to see you soon.
