Grand Saline's Main Street Festival Begins Saturday

April 08, 2019

Grand Saline’s Main Street Festival will take place along the streets of Historic Downtown Grand Saline on Saturday, April 13, beginning at 10:30 am. There will be lots of fun activities for the entire family – free music all day long, games and rides for the kiddos, a lineup of motorcycles, bingo & a cornhole tournament, as well as a big selection of vendors for your shopping and dining enjoyment.

The top billing goes to the BBQ Competition. For $10 you will get 5 tickets to use as your entry to taste 5 different pitmasters’ BBQ along with a token to vote for the Best BBQ. Pitmasters serving their best BBQ will be The Feed Hut, Circle A, Bad Luck BBQ, Cody Rodgers BBQ, and Wilson BBQ. You be the judge for the best BBQ at the 2019 Main Street Festival.

Borderline from Wood County will be on stage beginning at noon playing classic rock and oldies. Jericho March, an award-winning Christian rock band, follows at 2:30. Flashback 5 will be headlining the Festival and performing from 4 until 7:30 pm. They are a top 40 cover band that plays music from the 1970’s to the 2000’s.

For the little ones there will be a petting zoo from East Texas Zoo and Gator Farm, bounce house, a mini train ride, lots of games and face painting. After participating in the 5K run/walk, adults can enjoy shopping with a variety of vendors, watching chainsaw carving by Jimmy Hobbs, and dining on homemade pies from Friends of the Library. If you enjoy games, there’s a cornhole tournament and bingo. Starting at 11 am Bloodline Cycles Bike Show will be lined up on Main Street. Their sound blast competition begins at 1:30pm.

The day begins at 7 am at the Salt Palace with registration for the Camp Gladiator/Ralph Carroll 5K run/walk. Fees for this event are donated to “Children With Hair Loss”. You can also donate your hair to “Children With Hair Loss” for wigs for children. Danette Brittain and other hair stylists will be giving free 8” hair cuts on the day of the Festival at Barbara’s Beauty Salon. Be sure to call Brittain for an appointment at 903-962-4071.
