Wyndolyn Tunnell (1929-2018)

Services for Wyndolyn Tunnell, 89, of Grand Saline, TX were scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at Oakland Baptist Church in Canton, TX with Dr. David Christine officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.

 
Wyndol peacefully passed away October 15, 2018, at her home in Grand Saline. She was born January 27, 1929, in the small community of Oakland.  She attended Grand Saline schools and graduated high school in 1945 a year early due to her dedication to learning. 

 
Wyndol attended Oakland Baptist Church where she was an active member. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, gardening, and shopping at First Monday and garage sales.  However, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught them what it truly meant to be cherished and loved.  She also witnessed the importance of Jesus to each of their hearts.

 
Wyndol was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her high school sweetheart, Truett “Ed” Tunnell, in July 1945. They have shared 73 years of marriage.  An accomplishment less than 1% of all marriages reach. They lived together in the Oakland community until they built a new home together in Grand Saline in 1998. 

 
It is said that your legacy is not what you accomplish here on earth, but what you instill in the hearts of those left behind. As Psalms 78:4 states, “We will not keep them from our children; we will tell the next generation about the Lord's power and his great deeds and the wonderful things He has done.”

 
Wyndol is survived by her husband, Ed, children, Eddie and Phyllis Tunnell, Donnie and Theresa Tunnell, and Kathy and Don Sayers, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Other family include brother, Thurman and Sherry Reid and sister-in-law, Virginia Ann and James Powers.

 
Wyndol was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Gladys Reid, sister, Jean Mitchell and brother, Joe Reid.

 
Wyndol's life exemplifies 2 Timothy 4:7

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, from now on the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord the righteous judge, will award me on that day.

 
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.
