Barbara Thomas (1946-2017)

Services for Barbara Jane Thomas, 71, of Grand Saline, was scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with Bro. David Yarbrough officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Interment was held in Hoover Cemetery, Big Sandy.

Mrs. Thomas passed away September 17, 2017, in Tyler. She was born January 21, 1946 in Lubbock to Andrew Herbert & Mandy Irene McCandless Osborn. Barbara owned/operated Barbara’s Beauty Shop in Grand Saline for over 30 years. She was a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mandy Irene Osborn; father, Andrew Herbert Osborn; brothers, Billy Osborn, Russell Osborn and Junior Osborn; and sister, Kenelia Youngblood.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy E. Thomas Sr. of Grand Saline; son, Jimmy E. “J.J.” Thomas Jr. and wife Anna of Caddo Mills; daughter, Rhea Danette Brittain and husband Waylon of Grand Saline; three brothers, Jimmy Osborn, Jerry Osborn and Mike Osborn; two sisters, LaVerne Shaw and Betty Baker; four grandchildren, Jaeli, Ellie, Jimmy and Eli; one great-grandchild, Kaison; special friend, Mary Swift; and son at heart, Jamie McPherson and his children, McKenzie, Bryan and Connor; and numerous other friends and relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Grand Saline Public Library; Grand Saline FFA; or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.

The family received friends 1 p.m., Wednesday at the church.
