Patricia Godwin (1942-2017)

Mrs. Patricia Ann Johnston Godwin, 74, of Dallas, passed away September 16, 2017, at her home in Dallas by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born October 15, 1942 in Dallas to Edward O. & Helen Ann Olsewski Johnston. A successful businesswoman, Patricia started her business, Cascade Building Materials, in the late 1970’s and continued to work in the business until her death. She was willing to help her employees and customers in any way she could and was generous with her time and funds. Although she started school at Sunset High School, she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. Patricia gave back to Woodrow Wilson with both her time and financial support. She attended as many games as possible, even during her cancer treatments. She supported the band program and could even be seen on the field and in the stands helping. Patricia created a homecoming float that was seen by many generations of Woodrow students. As a parent and grandparent, she worked as a PTA member and Band Booster in every school her children and grandchildren attended. She believed that parents and grandparents needed to be involved. She enjoyed travel and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Olan DWayne Godwin of Dallas; son, Olan DWayne Godwin Jr. and wife Kristy of Wills Point; daughter, Cynthia Ann CreMeens and husband Robert John of Dallas; four grandchildren, Katherine Chandler, Elisabeth CreMeens, Andrew CreMeens and Wilson Godwin; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family received friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the funeral home. Private graveside services was held at Sand Flat Cemetery in Grand Saline.
